Next Tip:
Illustrations and Tables
So take the idea above, expand it. Why not make your List of Illustrations and List of Tables at the same time as your Table of Contents.
That way, as you go along making your policy, document, How To Paper, etc, as you insert those illustrations to show HOW TO, or those tables illustrating your points, you can caption them immediately and when you update your three different listing structures.

More Mad Linkage
So I am doing the 30 Day Challenge.
It is one of the inspirations for going freelance. Well to actually take the plunge into it.
So I am on Day 15 of the challenge. Not following it precisely. But taking what works for me.
So last night I did my Squidoo page. Tonight a Hubpages page. I am about done with the marketing that way side of life. Time to make more content and actively look for clients.
That is about as much linking, ok one more.
I am working on the page holding my hobby related created free content. It is sitting here right now.
Talk to you all later.

Writing, Advertising, and my first Squidoo Lens
So today I got a hit on one Get a Freelancer bid I had made. The potential client wanted a short article written as a test sample. Perfectly reasonable in my mind.
So in the ten (10) or so minutes it took me to pen the 351 words on the topic of choice something I had learned years ago working in administrative capacities at an Ad Agency, then in Marketing Departments in a then Fortune 500 company, came back to mind. I cut it from the article, it was too good to not keep for myself.
Here is what I had written, then kept
'It has been shown that on an average it takes seventeen exposures to a single television commercial before the average American consumer will retain knowledge of that commercial. Does not mean that after seventeen exposures the watcher will use the product or service, it just means it takes that much to impact on the conscious level.'
I know that is taught somewhere in marketing or advertising classes. My knowledge is all experiential. But it bears repeating here.
If indeed it does take a minimum of 17 times passed before your eyes, this can easily be adapted to how to use the Internet to market yourself. Which is what I am frankly doing. Using the Internet to market my skills in writing so I can find more work to improve my financial standing, while doing what I love and am meant to do as well.
So in that vein I went and made a Squidoo Lens. Here is the link to my page over there.
Just one more way to work on getting my name out there for others to find.
Have a good night, more soon.

Watched a Webinar today
Over at http://www.foundationcenter.org/ they have free Webinars relating to Grants and Proposal writing aimed at getting funding from Foundations. With that focus, it makes it easy to know what you are getting. What I liked about the one I did today was Basic Grant Proposals.
One thing that really stuck with me is the emphasis on organization.
Shows me that my recent love affair with Tables of Contents is a good thing.

Writing and Get A Freelancer
I am signed up over at Get A Freelancer, Elance, SoloGig, few other spots it seems like.
So everyday I get multiple emails in my Writing category.
Budgets are $30 to $150
The buyer states the rate is a Dollar an Article (500 Words), which is high as an average over there.
So that equates to a Penny every 5 Words
Back in High School, I graduated in '81, the word rate for magazines was like 2 Cents a Word.
So for quality articles, no plagarism, etc, I can expect to make
1 Penny per 5 Words compared to 2 Pennies per 1 Word = 10 Cents per 5 Words.
So one tenth 1/10 of what I dreamt of making as a writer 27 some years ago.
So how does that make us writers feel. This cannot help out the overall industry.
Any comments?

Starting a Document
Starting a document.
The steps I take are pretty simple, yet they allow me to be organized from the beginning.
I work mostly in Word, so that is how this is laid out.
Cover or Title page
Page of Revisions
Then my Table of Contents page
Insert a Table of Contents, even with nothing else indicated as a Header
Then a Table of Figures, A List of Tables, then I am ready to start.
Next step is the anticipated main elements to the document, this of course depends on what I am writing.
I add a few lines between each.
Indicate each as a Heading 1, and update my Table of Contents.
There I have a framework to work in, a short and sweet, takes minutes, sense of organization.

Online Gaming Magazines
There is a definite lack of online gaming related magazines.
The stress of keeping them up, getting contributions, real life imposing, makes it almost as difficult for the hobbyist as I have heard it is for the professional magazine.
Yet with the rise in cost of printing, the need for advertisements to sustain a traditional print magazine, and then factor in this is a niche industry, all conspires.
There are a few traditional print magazines left, No Quarter by Privateer Press is my current and only paper purchase for gaming magazines.
So here comes along a new online only gaming magazine
WereDragon Mag
Their first issue came out yesterday, located over here at http://www.weredragonmag.com/archives.html and dirt cheap at $3.50 for 101 pages total including covers and credits.
There are 3 adventures in it, with stats, write ups, and maps.
So just for that alone, it is like a Dollar for an Adventure. Heck of a bargain.
Once I am done reading the issue, I will review it in more detail. But head on over and make my life happy by getting a copy.
