Believing is Seeing

Believing is Seeing

This is the new motto to my life. Coming out of a multitude of concepts, ideals, ideas, beliefs and philosophies, it is exemplified in science and the Internet.

In science, in experiments, until the end goal is stated, what the experiments are looking for, what they hope to find, not until the desired end is put into writing or expressed in some fashion, the experiments will never find it. The results, the data will not correlate to what is being looked for.

As a long time existentialist, Seeing is Believing has been a theme of my experience and belief systems. So now in a twist on a variety of other concepts I have come into contact over the last few years, the new motto is now

Believing is Seeing

Resume Advice

ecently I posted to a position via Careerbuilder. There is now a feature now when someone submits to a position, they can get a free review of the resume that was submitted to that opening.

So now the results from my own resume are in. I believe the points brought up are valid and can aid anyone, so I am sharing with the entire web.

Without copying their email, here are the 4 suggestions in general, these are the paraphrased versions that follow.

1. Do not use Objectives
2. Consistent format in the resume
3. Do not use I, Me, We (1st, 2nd, 3rd person references)
4. No dates over 10 years old

The advice stated to not place an objective statement. To instead use the top portion to emphasize skills and to sell yourself.

The format should have all dates, titles, job layouts, etc in a consistent format (Mine needs some work here I realize)

Remove personal references, keep it as business and professional as possible

Avoid dates over 10 years old. Items like when college or high school graduation was. This can help to avoid unintentional age dating and bias.

An update to my freelance writing.

I had looked into working with a person as located on eLance. Ahh not such a good experience. His main comment back to me was I was too slow. I admit it took a couple of shots to get the first article the way he wanted it. Was all set to generate several more when my instincts kicked in and I decided I was not going to work with that person anymore. Which I think is best overall. The payrate of under a penny a word is demeaning to a writer. One of the main issues I have with sites like eLance, oDesk, etc.

No sales on www.paizo.com yet. Working on the second and third for sale products. I need more content, which is something I preach and know. More difficult to accomplish at times.

Looking at working with a small local consulting firm, doing targeted business development, the first research items are jotted down and this weekend the data collection begins for an early next week delivery.
More updates to follow

In progress slowly but with certainty

So it has been a few months since my first for sale product was posted on www.paizo.com.

So no sales yet, but I have done no advertising for it yet either.

So the last few days I have been working on a new setting instead of more 4Somes books. Surreal and Horror are supposed to be the main genre elements.

So that is moving apace, and will be dirt cheap as a pdf when I have it complete.

So that is where I am right now.
